About the opportunity:
The Cape Forchu Lighthouse is a beloved icon of the Municipality of Yarmouth, enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. The Municipality of Yarmouth is committed to developing and maintaining it as a world class tourism destination. To this end, a Master Plan for development of the site has been approved and work has begun. The Site Manager is an integral part of making that Plan come to life.

The Municipality of the District of Yarmouth is looking for an experienced professional to fill the role of Cape Forchu General Manager. The General Manager will lead the implementation of visitor experience standards at the Cape Forchu Lighthouse and Leif Erikson Trail. In addition, this position will perform functions relating to the implementation of Council approved strategies and plans. This includes:

  • Overall management of the site and employees
  • Ensuring excellence in the delivery of visitor experience
  • Ensuring delivery of the historical context of Cape Forchu
  • Overseeing operation of “Climb The Light” program and gift shop

This position is 80%; 35 hours per week during the operating season (March – October) and 15 hours per week in the off-season.

Salary range for this position is $39,178 – $50,374.

About you:
The ideal candidate will be someone who has a passion for the Cape Forchu Lighthouse and its history. This position requires a person who is comfortable with public speaking and communicating with a variety of people. Post-secondary education or training in retail, tourism or hospitality required. This person will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written).
